Ontario Forensics Science Centre Toronto, ON, Canada
Description
Hodess delivered this 5,000 SF life sciences facility under a design-build model, providing a fully turnkey solution encompassing design, supply, and installation of purpose-built cold storage and mortuary environments. The scope included one cold room maintained at 4°C and 50% RH and one freezer at -20°C, both constructed with insulated panel systems and integrated with digital controls, dehumidification, and full mechanical and electrical systems. The cold room was further equipped with redundant refrigeration to ensure continuous environmental reliability for sensitive life sciences operations.
The mortuary package formed a significant component of the project, with Hodess delivering and installing 29 vented autopsy tables, an embalming station, autopsy cart, scissor lift, and a cadaver storage system accommodating 125 trays — all assembled and commissioned on-site. Hodess managed full project delivery inclusive of Revit design documentation, factory acceptance testing, site supervision, and commissioning, with formal training provided to facility staff and a one-year warranty covering all installed systems through final turnover.
