Description
Hodess provided the controlled environmental systems for Amgen’s new biomanufacturing facility, part of an expansion effort aimed at increasing the production and distribution of life-saving medicines to patients across North America. The scope covered 20,000 sf and included four specialized controlled environment rooms engineered to pharmaceutical-grade standards.
The build featured two 5°C automated pallet coolers measuring 200′ x 50′ x 50′, a 5°C sample storage cooler, and a 5°C packaging and shipping cooler. All insulated panel systems were FM 4880 certified to meet pharma-grade requirements. To guarantee reliability, Hodess incorporated full mechanical and control redundancy throughout the pallet cooler rooms, pairing water-cooled primary systems with air-cooled backup systems to ensure true operational redundancy under all conditions.
The overall design emphasized sustainability and automation, with redundancies built in at every level to support consistent, uninterrupted performance for this critical stage of Amgen’s biomanufacturing pipeline.
