Our Work

Abzena Sanford, NC

Description

Pfizer (formerly Abzena) engaged Hodess for the design-build delivery of a 39,000 sf pharmaceutical cleanroom facility in Sanford, North Carolina. The project included the development of ISO5, ISO 7, and ISO 8 controlled environments to support pharmaceutical manufacturing operations.

The cleanroom suites were supported by a purpose-built mechanical mezzanine designed and constructed to accommodate two make-up air units (MAUs), sixteen air handling units (AHUs), and the primary electrical infrastructure serving the controlled spaces. The mechanical systems were engineered to integrate with an external central utility building (CUB) provided by others, ensuring seamless distribution of conditioned air and process support systems throughout the facility.

The project was executed on an accelerated schedule, reaching substantial completion within approximately eleven months. The completed facility provides a robust, high-performance environment designed to meet stringent pharmaceutical manufacturing and regulatory requirements.
